Leveling Spec

Ok, I know you came here for information, not my witty banter.

Here is the spec I use, or at least how it looks at 85. Leveling Spec Last updated for 4.2.

A visual, in case you don't feel like going to WoWhead right now.

For the most part, the order you choose the talents will not make or break you. The only real exceptions are the four that give you castable spells. I would try to get to Natures Swiftness as soon as possible, which will mean two points worth of backfilling.

By the time you are looking at the next pair, Spirit Link totem and Mana Tide totem it boils down to which you think might help you out more right away.  Personally I go for Spirit Link first, and then Mana Tide right after. Whichever order you choose to go in I would definitely take them with back to back talent points.

Riptide, being at the bottom of the talent tree, is not available until level 69. It also will by necessity be the last one chosen in the Restoration tree.

Once you branch out I would start with Elemental Weapons and Improved Shields in the Enhancement tree, once again depending on how you are doing for mana will decide which to take first. Then I would move over to Elemental for the three points there, before coming back to give my totems more range with Totemic Reach.

By then you are 85, and are likely to be looking for another spec for whatever your chosen endgame activity is.

For those that are curious, the actual order I spend my point is:

  • Spark of Life 3/3
  • Ancestral Resolve 2/3
  • Resurgence 2/2
  • Ancestral Resolve 3/3
  • Totemic Focus 2/2
  • Natures Swiftness 1/1
  • Natures Blessing 3/3
  • Ancestral Healing 2/2
  • Soothing Rains 2/2
  • Natures Guardian 2/2
  • Spirit Link Totem 1/1
  • Mana Tide Totem 1/1
  • Ancestral Awakening 3/3
  • Blessing of the Eternals 2/2
  • Tidal Waves 3/3
  • Riptide 1/1
  • Elemental Weapons 2/2
  • Improved Shields 3/3
  • Acuity 3/3
  • Totemic Reach 2/2

Note: the ones in bold actually give us a new spell to cast. This is true without having to visit a trainer. It comes in handy to have macros ready to go for these, That way when you ding in the middle of an instance you spend the talent point between pulls and be good to go.
